Olivia here. asked:

Yes okay! Me being English and not having prom or homecoming i have no idea what the occasion is all about; what is homecoming? Why do you have it? Why do people want to get so dressed up for it?

Yeah I have no idea either. I don’t think we have it in Canada.
I think it’s some dance or something. Possibly involving a football game and a parade. But that’s just what I see on TV and read in Archie comics :)

you are english? that is so cool :)
i love the british accent lol (i’m mex.american)
well homecoming is a game kind of like celebrating the new football season/going back to school. It takes place around this time of year. Homecoming dance is the dance that takes place after the game and in honor of the same thing or the game. Well since it is similar to prom/formal dance everyone wants to look their best. I hope my answer made sense and it helped you understand a little better what homecoming is :)

homecoming dance is for the school (high school usually) and the boys ask the girls to go with them and so the girls get into fancy dresses or more casual and then they go dance. the main reason they have it is for people who graduated from that high school. they go to the game and see people they know because a lot of people go that went to the high school. yep thats homecoming.

its a dance that happens close to the begining of the school year.
it is to welcome the school year and all the other fun exciting activities planned for the school year.
people get dressed up because its a dance and they want to look good.
    :)

    Three reason
    1. Spirit Week- this is when your school plans daily events for everyone to participate in. Common ones are tacky day, pajama day, 70’s day, just random fun days where you dress crazy
    2. Homecoming game – This is the most important football game of the season I think. I really don’t know, I just know it’s the game everyone goes to and it is awesome!
    3. Homecoming dance- This is like a mini prom. There is even and king and queen announced. It’s formal but not as formal as prom
    Homecoming is awesome

Homecoming is a parade, a dance, everything. It’s usually around the time of the first football game.

homecoming is basically a huge high school event at a big football game, maybe with a rival school, and dance.
Homecoming queen and representatives are voted.
so its kinda like a football game/social event/beauty and popularity contest.

homecoming is when a high school invites past graduates to come back for a football game. there is also a dance, and a homecoming court (king, queen, etc,)

I’m homeschooled, so what I’ve heard about homecoming is coming from friends who have it at their high schools. It celebrates the start of the school year (sort of). Basically, it’s an excuse for a dance. The dance is also called winter formal. There is also a football game (what I guess you guys in England call “american football”). The dance isn’t as formal as prom, guys wear nice slacks and shirts and girls wear short dresses, but not real formal.

Homecomming is an event in high school that is over rated
there is nothing spectacular about it and same goes for prom.

my school does homecoming a little bit differently.. we dont have a formal homecoming dance..,. because they said 3 formal dresses a year is just too much money to spend .. so we had cut it to a winter formal and prom.. but it is now fall formal and prom.. anyways.. so for our homecoming.. we do spirit week, a pep rally, then homecoming queen is announced at the football game at half time.. they all wear like younger girly suit outfits and sit on the backs of convertables and ride around the field.. the school thats like a mile from mine has each grade get together and do a little dance at the pep rally.. and they all get shirts and stuff.. they each have fun names… like Junior Juvies or Junior Jokers.. Senior Sexies. idk.. just funny names and they kinda dress up as their little theme..
