Where can I rent a prom dress for my daughter, in the Southeastern Michigan area?

My daughter’s prom is May 1st, and due to financial issues, and job lay off, I can’t afford to purchase a dress for her. If anyone can give me any ideas as to where I can rent a prom dress, I would greatly appreciate it. Plus size (18), she’s a beautiful 6′1″ basketball player.

i don’t know about places to rent a prom dress. you could try a go ogle search to find a red hats lady society chapter around. sometime they will have dress shops were they sell used gowns. sometimes the salvation arm has wedding dresses for dirt cheep then you can alter it, or take some of the beading off. you could even go by some fabric dye at the local craft store and dye the dress whatever color you want. i used to by dresses at Macy’s on the sale rack. i found one that had a small smudge on it (dry cleaning fixed it) and it was marked down from $139 to $13.

I don’t know of any place that rents prom dresses (guys are so lucky – they get to rent everything!)
Have you tried a resale / thrift shop. You might find something that can be altered (added to, shortened, etc.) or a very simple dress that she can get rockin’ accessories for – fun shoes, jewelry and hair stuff.
One time I found a prom dress at ROSS for $6.00. The zipper was broken – it cost me $14. to fix….still a great big savings!!
Good luck and have fun!!

The BEST deals are going to be at the thrift/Goodwill/Resale shops!!!!
They usually have quite a lot of formal wear for under $15, sometimes under $10. CHEAP!! Rental formals will be very worn and can smell. Go to all the stores in the area in one day. If you see something, but want to go on to another stores, ask the sales associate if she will “hold” it for a few hours.
Be sure to look it over carefully for any tears or stains, but I find that formal wear usually not been worn very much, so is in very good condition. I get “ALL” (every piece) of my formal wear this way at a tiny fraction of the retail price. Even fancy designers!! (Liz, Jones NY, DKNY) You would not believe the absolutely stunning formal wear I see out there…all sizes!! I am an 18-20,and have “NO problem” finding quality formal wear. And it recycles clothes….great for the environment. I have bought them and turned around and resold them on Ebay for 10 times what I paid!!
Since you now own it, you can use it again, give it away or sell at a garage sale, or donate it back fo another girl to get the same great experience. This also teaches responsibility in sensible priced shopping and recycling.
If this fails, which I don’t see how it could, try searcing Ebay under names, fancy, formal ,cruise prom dress 18 20. Formal wear can go fo as low as .99 cents! Just be sure to check the buyers feedback to be sure they do as promised and ship quick. And be sure hte style will fit. Empire (higher) waists look great on curvy tall girls. Ask for but, waist and ip measurements to be sure. I ope tis link works. Here’s a searcH I just did. cOPY AND PASTE INTO NEW ADRESS BAR.
Let us know what you find. Drop me a pic!!!
Hope this helps!!!

P.S. Dry clean it before wearing, unless it’s perfect.
